UW-Stout’s School of Art & Design has a deep history and has gained recognition as one of the premiere Art & Design schools in the Midwest. Unfortunately, the space and environment at Stout doesn’t reflect the creativity that SOAD is producing. The Applied Arts building on campus feels cold, concrete, and confined.
The bitmap patterning reflects recent branding of the school and works as a dynamic design that draws interest into the space. The gradient in the windows casts light into the building in a way that has never been seen. The ambient orange creates an atmosphere that is meant to enhance creativity and liveliness in the building.
